3D Technology Used to Solve Design Challenges

25th May, 2016

A sensitive approach to construction and innovative technology was required for the fitout of a new operating theatre recently completed for Greenslopes Private Hospital.

A 3D image scanner was brought in by the Kane team to provide the exact dimensions of the existing space and proved to be a very cost effective way to accurately draw and fabricate new structural steel elements.

Engaged by Ramsay Health to deliver a leading edge operating theatre adjacent to another live theatre, Kane implemented a strict regime of infection control methods and tightly coordinated sequencing of the works to minimise the impact on the hospital’s daily activities.

As part of this project, Kane were required to coordinate a large number of services, structural steel and architectural layouts with both the precise requirements of the specialist equipment for the space and the end user requirements. The 3D technology proved a worthwhile investment with the project team able to resolve the design issues immediately.

Operating Theatre 18 at Greenslopes Private Hospital now has a whole new purpose thanks to the refurbishment project for Ramsay Health Care. This project is the third in a series of projects delivered for this client, in what has become a successful and collaborative working relationship.
