At Friday’s NAWIC Awards for Excellence in Victoria, Kane’s Project Manager Monica Fontaine received a High Commendation for the Crystal Vision Award for Advancing the Interests of Women in the Construction Industry. These awards recognise the achievements of highly successful women in the industry with the Crystal Vision award focused on persons who actively promote and encourage participation and career progression of women in the construction industry. This award celebrates the achievements of a person who demonstrates foresight and a continuing commitment toward advancing the interests of women in the construction industry as a whole.
Monica Fontaine is a successful, respected and determined Senior Project Manager at Kane Constructions. Monica fulfils this non-traditional role and consistently delivers projects that exceed client expectations and turn around the potentially disruptive experiences of construction in an operational environment into a positive journey.
Monica completed her Bachelor of Construction Management with Honours, at Deakin University in 2001. Shortly after completing her degree, she moved to London and worked as Site Engineer and Quantity Surveyor for a large multinational contractor.
In 2005, she commenced with Kane Constructions as a Contracts Administrator. She has progressed to be Kane’s fifth female Project Manager nationally, and currently most senior. Always willing to take on a challenge, Monica supports the estimating department at Kane with tender submissions by providing programming and methodologies.
Since becoming a Project Manager in 2009, Monica has completed a variety of projects across a range of sectors including health, education and community. Her projects have often involved managing construction in and around high risk and operational environments, and she is widely recognized as the ‘best around’ in expertly managing challenging construction works and activities within sensitive places and with touchy stakeholders.
In January 2015, Monica returned from maternity leave to her full time position as a Project Manager and has continued to successfully deliver a wide variety of projects. Monica recently delivered the $9M Austin Health Short Stay Unit and is currently delivering the $14M Angliss Hospital Critical Care and Short Stay Unit Expansion Project.
