Kane Constructions was engaged by Springfield City Group in the third quarter of 2016 under a Design and Construct Contract to deliver the Health City One mixed-use development at Springfield.

The precinct comprises of three buildings:

  1. Quest Apartment Hotel featuring eighty two apartments over six storeys, with one floor dedicated to a childcare centre and the ground floor dedicated to retail
  2. Five storey building containing eighteen serviced apartments for Multiple Sclerosis Queensland
  3. Eight storey commercial and medical/consulting suites facility, to house the treating specialists

Health City One is situated on three separate lots. Each stage was delivered independently, ensuring minimal disruptions to existing tenants and final construction stages.

Given the site had over one hundred personnel at any given time and shared only one narrow laneway with the neighbouring property, communication was crucial at all times.

Kane utilised innovative measures and cost saving efficiencies to mitigate time and cost implications, including the use of one tower crane to service all three buildings concurrently. Additional measures included the proposal of alternative auto door operators, and redesign of the services.

During the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, Kane managed the consultant team through extensive design changes, value management and mitigation of buildability risks. The use of our in-house Design Manager meant that any challenges were resolved efficiently, ensuring the project was delivered within budget and on program.
