Another iconic QLD project

29th January, 2010

Kane Constructions has been awarded the Restoration of Brisbane City Hall, Stage 1. This follows our successful completion of the Restoration of Brisbane's Old Government House and the redevelopment of King George Square - Brisbane's main city square.

The $8m Brisbane City Hall project  includes façade repairs, replacement of the auditorium ceiling, works within the dome space and investigative and exploratory works throughout the heritage listed building.

The dome of Brisbane City Hall is the largest dome in the Southern Hemisphere, and this provides a unique set of challenges for the Kane team. Having being awarded the contract in the week prior to Christmas, several team members cut their holidays short to ensure the project got off to a flying start.

By the end of January they had sensitively removed the organ for storage and reinstallation on completion. The organ was originally built in 1892 by Henry Willis and Sons and is only one of two of its type and manufacture remaining in the world.

Other projects recently awarded to Kane in Queensland include Siena College Hall & Resource Centre at Sippy Downs, Our Lady of the Rosary Administration & Hall at Caloundra and St Josephs SS Library & Hall at Kangaroo Point.
