Kane were engaged in mid 2016 by Metro South Health under a Modified Australian Standard contract, to undertake the Stage 2 expansion of The Southern Queensland Centre of Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care at Inala.
Stage 2 includes additional treatment and consultation spaces which will expand integrated clinical service delivery, research and training. The 1,655m2 facility will physically link to the adjoining Stage 1 facility. The Centre provides a unique opportunity to reach an estimated 41,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons who live predominantly in the Brisbane, Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich and Moreton Bay region. The purpose of the facility is to respond to the health needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and to promote health, wellbeing and disease prevention.
Site works to date have included demolishing the existing dwellings, installation of new inground civil and services works. The Stage 2 structure has also progressed to a stage where the final suspended concrete slab is due to be poured mid March. Basement formwork has been stripped out and fitout is due to commence in this area next week.
