Kane Constructions is currently nearing completion on a third Meeting House built for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This latest facility is located at Augustine Heights, west of Springfield in Queensland.
Kane was awarded the contract for construction of a new Meeting House and Carpark at Augustine Heights last September. Due for completion in late August, the Meeting House comprises classrooms, offices, a commercial kitchen, ceremonial font, recreational spaces and auditorium spaces. Together with significant associated civil works, the project includes an on grade carpark of 310 spaces (with an overflow carpark on reinforced turf), several massive boulder walls, a bioretention basin, pathways and landscaping.
During construction, the Kane project team sourced a local Queensland supplier to produce the steeple. Traditionally, this iconic element of the church would have been produced in New Zealand and shipped across to Australia, but instead, Kane’s Project team sourced a supplier at Kunda Park, creating significant efficiencies for the project. The same supplier was also able to deliver the Forest Glen Meeting House steeple, which was successfully erected last year.
Kane has over the years, successfully delivered a number of facilities around South East Queensland for LDS, including Mudgeeraba Meeting House, the Forest Glen Meeting House on the Sunshine Coast and numerous alterations, additions and repairs at other facilities.
