Ingleburn wins National Award

9th November, 2009

The Ingleburn Library and Community Centre was awarded the National Public Buildings Award ($5m to $10m) at the Master Builders Australia National Construction Awards held on the Gold Coast on Saturday evening.

The National Excellence in Construction Awards recognise the outstanding contributions made by builders, apprentices and professional services providers throughout Australia. Nominations for each category are drawn from the winners in that category from each State/Territory Association. A national panel of independent judges determines the ultimate winners.

The new facility incorporates historic aspects of the existing School of Arts building facade in a new, modern community hall and library, together with the redevelopment of Hallinan Park. The three adjacent sites form a gateway to the Ingleburn Central Business District.

The design of the Ingleburn Library and Community Centre incorporated a number of ESD principles such as a 400,000 litre water harvesting capacity, sensor lighting, heavy reliance on recyclable building materials and the use of natural trees inside the library to improve air quality, which has allowed it to achieve a 4.5 Nabers Energy rating.

Winning the MBA National Award completes a trifecta with the project previously winning a state award and also being recognised by the the Australian Property Institute (API) NSW by winning an Excellence in Property Local Government Award.

Kane Constructions (NSW) is proud to have delivered this multi award winning project for the Campbelltown City Council and the community of Ingleburn, Sydney.
