brc research-centre-aerial.jpgThe announcement of financial close and start of construction was made by the Premier of Victoria, Hon John Brumby and Minister for Major Projects, Tim Pallas on Wednesday 27 May 2009.
In mid-2008, Kane Constructions was invited by Plenary Group and Grocon to join the Plenary Research consortium to bid for the Biosciences Research Centre Project, a major scientific research facility to be constructed at La Trobe University in Bundoora.
The project requires consortium to finance, design, build, and maintain the new facility which will be a world-class centre for agricultural biosciences research. The BRC is a joint initiative of the Victorian Government through the Department of Primary Industries (DPI), and La Trobe University.
The BRC will accommodate up to 400 staff including scientists and support staff from DPI and La Trobe, and will deliver research to boost productivity, fight diseases such as Equine Influenza and make Victoria’s farms even more sustainable.
Financial close was achieved some months ahead of schedule, despite the difficulties presented by the global financial crisis. brc research-centre-front.jpg
The Kane Constructions Project Team is looking forward to working closely with Plenary Group, Grocon and other consortium members to deliver this landmark facility which must be operational in 2012.
