With the sun shining and hundreds of families enjoying the new facilities, NSW Premier Kristina Keneally officially opened Pimelea Park in Western Sydney yesterday.
The new $4 million facility designed by McGregor + Coxall and Choi Ropiha includes new picnic areas, amenity facilities and nature playground equipment including flying foxes, climbing walls, water play areas, swings and slides. Pimelea is however more than a park and includes initiatives to reduce water consumption, energy use and waste as well as infrastructure for a future convention facility.
In recognition of the strong relationship between the Western Sydney Parklands Trust, Sydney Olympic Park Authority and the Kane Project Team - pictured above - comprising Neil Durston (Project Manager), Guy Beaumont (Site Manager), Benny Wang (Estimator and Administrator) and Corey Hema (Apprentice), Kane have also been awarded Stage 2. Works are to commence in December this year.
