As a suburb, Glebe has gone through significant transformation over the years. The leafy inner city suburb, known for its strong ties to both UTS and Sydney Uni, has more recently become a focus of the NSW housing affordability crisis. In 2014, Gabrielle Upton, [then] Minister for Family and Community Services commented that “the [existing] system was designed at a different time and for a different purpose”.
The Glebe Social Housing project is a great example of this current transformation, and while our project is only 160 apartments, it signifies a commitment by the NSW government to tackle housing affordability programs for inner city critical services accommodation.
In terms of progress, Building B has topped out and fitout commenced, with Building D structure advancing, as the project team (Kane, DEM and LAHC) work hard to maintain focus and momentum through these critical stages of delivery.
