Kane was awarded the Wyndham Clinic Redevelopment project in December 2014.
Work on the upgrade has begun, with the turning of the sod ceremony taking place today.
A dedicated drug and alcohol detox and rehab service and a youth mental health service will be added.
The upgrade includes 22 new inpatient beds, a day program, an additional day surgery and an expanded recovery area. The expansion will take the total number of mental health beds to 50 and dedicated day theatres for surgical procedures to two.
Wyndham Clinic's Chief Executive Officer Peter Bailey (shown in photo opposite) said the hospital had been open for just over 12 months, but additional services were already needed.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas (also shown in photo opposite) welcomed the hospital’s investment, especially in the vital areas of mental health and addiction treatment.
“Wyndham is a rapidly growing community with a growing need for health services,” he said.
