Minister for Health Jill Hennessy joined Member for Lara John Eren and Barwon Health CEO Professor Ruth Salom today in turning the sod to mark commencement of construction of the $33 million Barwon North Health project.
The flexible medical facility will include medical imaging facilities, pathology, pharmacy, consulting suites and renal dialysis services and will ease the strain on the University Hospital Geelong’s busy emergency department - with patients being able to access a range of ‘walk-in’ health services at the new facility.
Kane Constructions was appointed under a construct only contract in early June with works to be completed by mid-2019.
Kane project manager Tim Fowler commented, 'We are pleased to be delivering this much needed facility for the local community and it's great to be teaming up again with Johnstaff Projects and architects Billard Leece Partnership.'
