Kane Constructions has been appointed to deliver the new Chancellery building at Monash University.
Located at the Clayton campus, the 10,000m2 building will comprise of a single basement level for car parking, ground level public spaces, two levels of office space and a third level to house the University executive.
The striking design by ARM Architecture includes a feature steel sunshade screen that wraps all elevations of the thermally enhanced facade. The building has been designed in accordance with the Monash University EcoAccord and incorporates Passive House principles. Internally there are multiple large atrium spaces framed by mass timber balustrades.
A large stoa forms the main pedestrian access to the building with a series of 'grottoes' constructed from glass reinforced concrete and columns to be clad with work by local artists.
When completed, the Chancellery will not only be a modern flexible workplace but also a venue for receiving distinguished guests and visitors that celebrates the achievements of the University.
Works commence immediately and will be ready for 2020 university year.
We look forward to working again with Monash University and the consultant team including DCWC, ARM Architecture, Aurecon, IrwinConsult, Inhabit and Slattery.
