Multi-level car park opens in the heart of the Croydon precinct

20th December, 2021

The new state-of-the-art multi-level car park located in the heart of the Croydon precinct is now complete.

The Kane Constructions team delivered the detailed design and construction of the new development in November 2021 for Maroondah City Council.

Steve McIntosh, Manager Assets, Maroondah City Council states: “The project has been delivered to a high-quality standard and completed on time and within budget. The project was challenging due to several complex items with the primary one being the impacts of a pandemic. Kane Constructions provided proactive measures to ensure the project progressed in a timely manner but were also open to constructive feedback and provided solutions to issues as they arose.”

The car park is situated behind Croydon Main street and adjacent to the Croydon train station and bus depot. The $20 million dollar development provides much-needed car parking and improved pedestrian access and amenity to the area.

Devon St delivers 402 new complimentary car parking spaces for the community over four levels. The building offers safe pedestrian access to and from local transport hubs, passive surveillance, car charging points for electric vehicles, bicycle and motorbike parking, operational support facilities, and a new 1,400m2 tenancy.

The multi-level car park incorporates ESD initiatives including solar power and rainwater collection and re-use and is targeting a 5 Star NABERS rating.

The team supported local subcontractors and trades to deliver works packages and prioritised social procurement and employment of people experiencing disadvantage.

“The entire team is to be commended on their site safety record for the project duration which was important given the work site was in the middle of a thriving activity centre in the heart of Croydon.” Steve McIntosh, Manager Assets, Maroondah City Council
