The Bendigo TAFE City Campus has had an incredible transformation.
Kane Constructions and joint venture partner Nicholson Construction (KNJV) delivered the $50 million dollar project in August 2021. The project was staggered over multiple stages, with works delivered across seven buildings.
Key project areas include the hair and beauty department, library, ‘Active’ rooftop multi-use teaching space, rehabilitation gym, and life skill rooms.
The revitalised campus delivers an educational precinct, boosting activity and vibrancy in Bendigo’s central business district.
With a mix of new buildings and refurbished heritage listed buildings, the modern campus provides the latest in equipment as well as state-of-the-art formal and informal teaching and high-energy collaborative learning spaces.
“The revitalised city campus is really exciting for Bendigo TAFE students, staff and the wider community. The campus will provide a much-improved experience with access to quality education within fit-for-purpose learning environments.” Sally Curtain, Chief Executive Bendigo TAFE
Designed by Architectus and Six Degrees, and project managed by Donald Cant Watts Corke, the revitalised campus highlights the strong history of Bendigo TAFE combined with a clear focus on training the workforce of tomorrow.
KNJV’s Bendigo-based team has a strong track record in supporting local subcontractors and trades to deliver work packages, prioritise social procurement and employ people experiencing disadvantage.
Local subcontractors were engaged to deliver electrical and mechanical services, hydraulic, mobile cranage, precast concrete structures, concrete, civil and geotechnical services, scaffolding and more.
“I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to help deliver such a significant project for Bendigo TAFE and the community in general. I’m extremely proud of what our team has achieved.” Simon Kelly, Project Manager Kane Nicholson
Kane has a strong working relationship with Nicholson Construction, and has recently delivered the $102 million dollar Ballarat GovHub project in April 2021. Kane Nicholson is also currently delivering the $152 million Bendigo Law Courts project due to open in early 2023.
