Work is underway on 33 new social housing homes in Beerwah on the Sunshine Coast.
At the recent sod-turning ceremony, the Kane Constructions team were joined by notable guests including Jessica Knott, Housing Group Development Manager, Coast2Bay, Gordon Sutherland, Chair, Coast2Bay Housing Group, Hon Leeanne Enoch, State Minister for Communities and Housing, Jason Hunt, State Member for Caloundra, and Andrew Elvin, CEO of Coast2Bay Housing Group.
The project delivers 33 new units, 17 one bedroom units and 16 two bedroom units. The units are architecturally designed, sympathetic to the Beerwah heritage character and are set over a two storey townhouse format.
The complex provides both communal and private open space for future residents and a dedicated community room on-site. The space includes a covered dining space, turf area and gardens. This area will be used for community engagement events, workshops and meetings organised by Coast2Bay staff.
“These townhouses will be more than a home, they will be a place for people to live affordably, be good neighbours, contribute to the community and be a place where families and individuals in need can flourish.” Andrew Elvin, Coast2Bay Housing Group CEO.
“The Kane team is thrilled to deliver the Beerwah social housing project for the Department of Housing & Public Works. This complex is an important contribution to delivering affordable and sustainable homes for residents in the Sunshine Coast.” Mark Grimsey, Sunshine Coast Regional Manager at Kane Constructions.
The project is expected to reach Practical Completion late 2022.
