Construction on Victoria’s newest hospital - Northern Private Hospital at New Epping is officially underway.
Following the successful delivery of an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage, Kane Constructions was awarded Stage 1 of the Northern Private Hospital project under a Managing Contractor contract.
Co-located with the Northern Hospital, Northern Private Hospital will deliver extensive medical, surgical and mental health services to the region, currently the last major growth corridor in Victoria without a private hospital.
The first stage of Northern Private Hospital will feature 75 beds including four beds for high dependency patients and six in the critical care unit, day surgery, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), day oncology, a dedicated mental health ward, medical imaging, consulting suites, four theatres, cardiac catheter laboratory, and a direct bridge-link to the adjacent public hospital.
Northern Private Hospital CEO, Kieron Martin, said the hospital will also embody Ramsay Health Care’s sustainability strategy to help create stronger communities, healthier people and a thriving planet.
“The structure of the hospital will include recycled materials and chilled beams for enhanced thermal comfort. It will incorporate solar power, energy efficient lighting, and fixtures, fittings and appliances designed for water conservation and energy efficiency.”
Project Manager Darcy Gumley said Kane is thrilled to be delivering this world-class hospital for Ramsay Health Care.
“Kane is thrilled to be constructing the Northern Private Hospital New Epping development for Ramsay Health Care and Riverlee. Kane look forward to playing an essential role in connecting Victoria’s last major growth corridor without a private hospital with vital health care facilities.”
Northern Private Hospital will be delivered in two stages, with the first stage to be completed in 2023. Construction works on Stage 1 commenced in December 2021.
