Kane Constructions is excited to announce the recent award to deliver the $8 million Tumbalong Green Stage Upgrade project. Located in the heart of Darling Harbour on Sydney’s CBD fringe, Tumbalong accommodates a rich space for mixed community events and entertainment uses.
Underpinned by Kane’s extensive Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and community sector experience, Kane is thrilled to partner with Darling Harbour Live to deliver this unique performance space. The upgrade includes the construction of a new steel and laminated glulam timber structure with membrane roof, raised performance stage, and supply, installation and connection of stage lighting and AV equipment.
The Tumbalong Green Stage Upgrade has been designed by Hassell. Once complete, the upgraded stage will host live concerts, performances, festivals, exhibitions and community events. The project will reinvigorate the rich harbour side precinct, and provide a vibrant new hub for future entertainment and community engagement.
Given the live and sensitive nature of the Tumbalong Green site, particularly in relation to public access and proximity to construction, Kane is acutely aware and focused on safety and staging within an operational environment.
Kane’s Tumbalong team has valuable experience in working together on landmark community projects including the Art Gallery of NSW and the Lindfield Village Green. Both projects were executed within challenging and populated urban environments with many similarities to Tumbalong.
The Tumbalong Green Stage Upgrade will be completed in May 2023 in time for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
