Following the successful Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage with St Vincent's Private Hospital in 2021, Kane Constructions was successful in securing the current early works package, and recently delivered Maternity Ward Refurbishment for St Vincent's Private Hospital Fitzroy.
The successful delivery of these projects led to Kane’s appointment to deliver the state-of-the-art $123 million Main Works package under a Design and Construct contract.
The new 12-storey building, adjacent to the existing private hospital, is designed to increase opportunities to share research and clinical expertise with both St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the soon-to-be-built ACMD – Australia’s first collaborative, hospital-based biomedical engineering research centre. Kane is currently delivering the ACMD early works project and this will reach Practical Completion in the second half of 2022.
The new tower comprises two basement levels and a link bridge to the existing hospital. The scope includes refurbishing the adjacent eight-level hospital tower and heritage restoration works to the East Hill Hotel.
The project will deliver:
- Six new state-of-the-art operating theatres
- Central Sterile Supply Department
- 91 inpatient beds including 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and two High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds
- Intensive Care Unit
- Seven birthing suites and two assessment rooms
- Special Care Nursery
- Recovery bays
- Consulting suites
- 14 chair day oncology
- Refurbishment of the historic East Hill Hotel
All works will be carried out in a fully operational hospital environment.
The project is due to reach Practical Completion in mid-2025.
