On Friday 24th February, the Bendigo Law Courts were officially opened by Premier Daniel Andrews and Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes.
Kane, together with our joint venture partner Nicholson Construction (KNJV) are proud to have delivered this significant project for Court Services Victoria.
The Bendigo Law Courts project has completely rebuilt and expanded the court services to Bendigo and surrounding areas, delivering the latest technology and infrastructure to enable remote hearings, display evidence, video conferencing, and live streaming. The Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation were closely involved with the project to integrate Djaara culture into the space, including landscaping featuring elements to symbolise a smoking ceremony.
The new courts will service the Magistrates' Court of Victoria, Children's Court of Victoria, and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, as well as the County Court of Victoria, Supreme Court of Victoria, and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, on a circuit basis.
The project is estimated to have created 390 construction jobs and boosted employment opportunities in the Bendigo region.
“Thanks to the hundreds of locals who have worked on the construction of these new courts – not only are they safer, more inclusive and more expansive, they will provide ongoing opportunities for businesses across the region.” Premier Daniel Andrews.
Congratulations to the wider team involved in bringing this project to life.
