We are thrilled to announce the topping out of our development at 147-161 Elizabeth Street, Richmond. This significant milestone marks the completion of the building’s structure and brings us one step closer to delivering 144 modern, safe, and inclusive homes for the local community.
Located on Homes Victoria land, the development is creating a future for residents and generating 540 jobs, strengthening the community’s economic foundation. It reflects our vision to build a welcoming environment that meets the needs of North Richmond residents.
Kane, in partnership with Homes Victoria, has been proudly working on this project, and today’s ceremony marks a special tradition in construction, the topping out. This event symbolises prosperity and good fortune for the future, and in keeping with tradition, a Sydney Red Gum tree will be planted on the Western Lawn and adjacent to the Elizabeth Street frontage to bring good luck to the building’s future occupants.
To date, the project has achieved several impressive milestones, including approximately 112,000 hours of work, the pouring of around 5,600 cubic meters of concrete, and the erection of over 1,000 precast panels. We have also invested roughly $650,000 with Social Benefit suppliers, while Homes Victoria Priority Cohorts have contributed approximately 10,000 labour hours, and women in construction have provided around 9,800 hours of work.
As we move into the next phase of this development, the focus will shift to internal fitout and external landscaping, bringing this structure closer to becoming a vibrant community space.
This achievement is a testament to the incredible efforts of our dedicated team, subcontractors, consultant partners, and everyone involved. Their commitment to maintaining the highest quality and safety standards has been integral to the success of this project.
