Kane Constructions is thrilled to announce that our Project Manager, Darcy Gumley, and his team have been honoured with the 2024 National Professional Excellence Award (Commercial Construction $60M+) at the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) National Building Awards. The award recognises the outstanding work on the Northern Private Hospital Development Stage 1 project, a testament to Kane’s commitment to excellence in construction management.
Kane’s journey with the Northern Private Hospital began in 2018 under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract, where we helped shape the project brief and schematic design. In 2021, we secured the main works contract, with construction commencing in December. Thanks to Darcy’s leadership and the dedication of the project team, the state-of-the-art medical facility was completed two months ahead of schedule in August 2023.
The Northern Private Hospital Development Stage 1 features 70 inpatient unit bedrooms, four operating theatres, a cardiac catheterisation lab, a central sterile supply department (CSSD), a day chemotherapy unit, a sleep studies unit, an on-site pharmacy, and consulting suites. The project also includes a commercial kitchen, café, and a link bridge to the adjacent Northern Hospital, offering seamless connectivity.
The AIB Awards are prestigious because they focus on how a project is built, not just what is built, with peer recognition highlighting the excellence of the project’s execution. Kane Constructions is proud of Darcy and the entire team for their exemplary work, dedication, and ability to deliver complex projects ahead of schedule.
We thank our clients, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support and look forward to more exciting projects in the future.
