Kane Constructions is set to embark on an exciting new project in Torquay with the recent award of a $46.3 million Lump Sum contract to deliver the Surf Coast Aquatic and Health Centre. This landmark development is poised to become a cornerstone of the community, offering a range of state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet diverse health and wellness needs.
The new centre will feature an impressive indoor lap and squad swimming pool, learn-to-swim areas, and specialised warm water exercise and hydrotherapy pools. Complementing these aquatic amenities, the project will include a cutting-edge gym, versatile program spaces, and Allied Health suites, ensuring that the centre caters to a wide spectrum of fitness and therapeutic requirements. The inclusion of a café and essential supporting amenities will further enhance the user experience, making it a vibrant hub for locals and visitors alike.
A key focus of the design is accessibility, with careful consideration given to creating an inclusive environment that balances environmental sustainability with energy efficiency, aesthetics, and functionality. The project will also see the addition of 310 new car parks, improved access paths, and bike parking, making the centre easily accessible for all. Moreover, the new facility will connect with Wurdi Baierr Stadium, establishing itself as the primary entry point and reinforcing its role as a central community asset.
With construction anticipated to begin at the end of 2024 and a completion date in 2026, the Surf Coast Aquatic and Health Centre is set to be a transformative project that will significantly enhance the health and well-being of the Torquay community for years to come.
