Kane Constructions is thrilled to announce the completion of the $152.4 million Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre at The Alfred Hospital, marking a significant advancement in the care and research of melanoma and positioning Victoria at the forefront of the fight against this formidable cancer.
The Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre on St Kilda Road was officially opened on Friday 19th April 2024 by the Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese and Premier of Victoria Jacinta Allan.
Designed by Lyons Architecture, the building is distinguished by its façade which bears a resemblance to a skin graft which is commonly used for the treatment of skin cancer. The new six level purpose-built facility includes day oncology services, research laboratories, consulting suites, procedural spaces, multidisciplinary meeting rooms, clinical trials centre, offices for staff, clinical imaging, a wellness centre, wellness garden and two levels of basement car parking.
As the builders behind this transformative project, we are privileged to have played a role in bringing this state-of-the-art centre to life. Designed to integrate clinical care with pioneering research under one roof, this new facility promises a new era in the battle against melanoma.
Congratulations to Alfred Health, Paula Fox, our team, our subcontractors and the delivery partners who have worked together to deliver this visionary project. Together, we have contributed to delivering this magnificent facility paving the way for breakthroughs in cancer treatment and patient care.
