Kane to deliver cutting-edge health education facility at La Trobe University

10th April, 2025

Kane Constructions is proud to announce its appointment as builder for the new La Trobe University Health Clinic at the Bundoora campus, the largest interdisciplinary university clinic in Victoria.

This state-of-the-art four-level facility is a key part of La Trobe’s $170 million health innovation investment and the first development to begin under the University’s landmark La Trobe University City master plan. The new building will serve dual purposes, enhancing health education and improving public access to vital healthcare services.

Once complete, the facility will provide clinical placements and hands-on training for an additional 400 allied health professionals and psychologists each year, addressing growing national workforce shortages across key health disciplines. The clinic will support a broad range of services including orthoptics, podiatry, speech pathology, psychology, physiotherapy, audiology, occupational therapy and dietetics.

Kane will deliver a modern healthcare teaching facility that includes discipline-specific and flexible consultation rooms, specialist treatment and preparation spaces, and dedicated zones for student-led clinical practice. Designed to foster interdisciplinary learning and patient-centred care, the building will support both teaching and community engagement.

The Health Clinic will streamline the path from student to qualified health practitioner, positioning La Trobe as a national leader in health workforce development. The clinic also represents a long-term investment in the Bundoora community, offering more accessible, affordable care to those currently waiting for public services.

Kane is honoured to partner with La Trobe and Plenary Group on this visionary project, which marks a significant step in transforming the Bundoora campus into a thriving centre of health, education and innovation.
