Kane Constructions is excited to announce its partnership with the City of Sydney for the redevelopment of the Huntley Street Recreation Centre. Located at 6-8 Huntley Street in Alexandria, this project will transform a 1980s tilt-up concrete warehouse into a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose indoor sports facility.
The newly developed centre will offer a wide range of sports and fitness opportunities, featuring four indoor multipurpose courts that can accommodate activities such as basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball, gymnastics, and badminton. In addition to these indoor courts, the facility will provide outdoor practice spaces, a fitness area, seating for spectators, and a variety of amenities including a reception and administration area, a kiosk, change rooms, a landscaped courtyard, and bike parking for visitors. The design also includes a striking new canopy façade, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the centre.
Sustainability is at the heart of the project’s design. It will incorporate cutting-edge environmental features such as rooftop solar panels, a rainwater collection system for onsite reuse, and a green courtyard with planted trees, ensuring the centre not only serves the community but also contributes to a healthier environment.
Further enhancing its community impact, the centre will connect with the adjacent Shea's Creek cycleway, promoting active transport and improving access for both cyclists and pedestrians through upgraded public areas.
With a $25 million budget, the Huntley Street Recreation Centre will meet the growing demand for indoor sporting facilities while prioritising sustainability and community involvement.
