Construction of a new purpose built facility comprising 4,950m2 of floor area located at Lucas Heights west of Sydney in New South Wales.
The Centre for Accelerator Science provides ANSTO with world-leading capabilities in accelerator science. The facility houses two new accelerators and also includes AMS chemistry laboratory facilities for preparation of samples prior to applying high sensitivity accelerator-based analysis techniques, and uranium Series Laboratories (USL) for ultra-sensitive isotopic analysis by mass spectrometry.
The new building contains accelerator halls, associated instrument development and maintenance laboratories, new sample preparation laboratories, office space and visitor display areas to permit school and tour groups to view the facilities.
The building has been designed to achieve a 4.5 star NABERS rating.
Whilst delivering the CAS, Kane also completed works for a Super Compactor - an enclosure around major hydraulic machinery, including automated access doors and gas fire suppression systems.
Kane Constructions was appointed in 2011 with the projects completed in late 2013.
