Kane was appointed under a Lump Sum contract to deliver the $52 million Brimbank Community and Civic Centre, located in Sunshine, Victoria.
The striking design by Lyons draws inspiration from the site's sawtooth industrial heritage, with the building opening onto Hampshire Road, creating a vibrant environment for learning and community engagement.
Spanning six levels, the building includes the new Sunshine Library across the first two floors, featuring a double-height reading room and dedicated areas for children, teens, and adults. The ground floor houses a customer service centre and a local history interpretive centre. On the second floor, there is a learning centre, community rooms, the council chamber, and an exhibition space.
The project achieved a 5 Star Green Star - Public Building Design v1 rating and was completed in the second quarter of 2016.
