Kane Constructions was awarded the project in early 2010 following a competitive tender.
Works included a refurbishment of the existing 25 metre pool and plant room, the addition of new shade structures, lighting towers, construction of a new indoor 17 metre Learn-To-Swim/Hydrotherapy pool. The scope also included extensive landscaping.
The centre remained fully operational throughout construction.
Disruptive parts of the works were undertaken outside opening hours to eliminate any inconvenience to stakeholders.
Additional works included a major upgrade of power and water mains as well as reconfiguration of existing landscaped areas.
The project was completed in late 2010, four weeks ahead of schedule.
