The $39 million Lump Sum project included construction services for a new health centre at Duntroon ACT and major refurbishment of the existing Health Centre at Holsworthy. Kane was awarded the project in late 2018 and the project is part of a national rollout of Defence health centres across Australia.
The facilities provide primary health and associated health care to Australian Defence force personnel around Australia.
The new two-storey Joint Health Command at Duntroon was delivered in 2021. The project provides a fit-for-purpose, contemporary healthcare facility for the Australian Defence Force personnel. With a hydrotherapy pool, inpatient units, rehabilitation units, pharmacy, car park, gym, offices, mental health wards, dental rooms and more, this newly built facility is comprehensive and modern. The scope also included inground civil engineering and landscaping.
Commissioning and handover protocols were key as the building had a number of medical requirements and needed to be utilised by the Department of Defence as soon as possible.
The Holsworthy health centre was delivered in 2021.
