Kane Constructions was engaged under a Lump Sum contract by the Department of Housing & Public Works for the Gold Coast Recreation Centre Accommodation Upgrade Stage 2 project.
The scope of works consisted of the staged demolition and refit of three two-storey student accommodation buildings to comply with current ambulant building codes and provide an updated facility.
The public interface was a key focus point for the project, given the site boundaries are surrounded by the Tallebudgera public and dog beach and Tallebudgera Creek.
Being the second project Kane have undertaken within the facility, the team were familiar with the sensitivities of working within the operational facility, alongside children, staff and the general public, and ensured operational continuity was maintained at all times.
