Kane Constructions was awarded the $60 million design and construct contract of a 29-storey student accommodation, located at 274–276 Russell Street in the heart of Melbourne's CBD.
The accommodation is a stone's throw away from major university campuses, key transport hubs, student amenities, and iconic Melbourne attractions and includes:
- 374 beds in single-bedroom studios, two-bedroom rooms, two-bedroom studios, and accessible apartments
- Vibrant community spaces for socialising and studying
- Gym facilities
- State-of-the-art kitchens
- Outdoor courtyards with BBQ facilities
The site was located on a very narrow footprint (just under 470m2) with restricted access and in a heavily constrained area with an adjacent construction site, small laneway access, heavy public vehicle and pedestrian interface and overhead obstacles.
Thanks to meticulous planning and flawless execution, the project reached Practical Completion in August 2023.
