The Health Sciences facility is one of two new 5 Star Green Star buildings delivered for the La Trobe University Rural Health School in Bendigo Victoria.
Kane Constructions was awarded both contracts in 2011 to deliver simultaneously. The projects were procured under a $33 million design and construct contract with works completed in 2012.
Located on the University's Flora Hill Campus in Bendigo, the Health Sciences Building is the focus for the first year students as well as housing academic and administrative staff offices and expansion space for teaching and research.
The design achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating under the Education v1 Rating Tool.
The Kane delivery team comprised regionally based staff and over 80% of trades employed on the project were Bendigo based or from nearby regional centres.
