Kane was appointed under a Lump Sum contract in October 2010 to deliver the $34 million Manningham City Square, a significant environmentally sustainable community facility located adjacent to the existing municipal offices.

Spanning over 12,000m², the development features two basement levels providing parking for up to 200 cars and three upper levels housing key community amenities. These include an art gallery, library, café, and various social and community services departments designed to serve the City of Manningham.

The project was specifically designed to achieve a 5 Star Green Star rating under the Public Building Pilot program, with a strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. It is also designed to meet a 5 Star NABERS rating for both energy and water use. A state-of-the-art trigeneration plant was installed to supply heating, cooling, and power to both the new facility and the adjacent Civic Offices via a micro-grid system, further enhancing the building’s sustainability credentials.

Construction was completed successfully in mid-2012, delivering a key community hub that aligns with Manningham City’s environmental and social goals.
