In late 2021, Kane Constructions was awarded the $79 million Design and Construct contract to deliver Melbourne Racing Club’s upgraded public realm at the Caulfield campus.
The design and construction of the public realm included:
- New 5,500m2 administration building constructed from timber to the western side of the racecourse
- New centralised horse stalls and mounting yard offering greater patron access and viewing as well as state of the art facilities for equine athletes
- Revitalised entry experience
- Increased lawn areas and event spaces
In 2022, construction commenced on the new centralised horse stalls which have been carefully designed to allow for unique viewing experiences for patrons as well as state of the art facilities for the equine athletes.
New participant zones have been delivered including jockey and trainer facilities which are located adjacent to the new mounting yard.
New and flexible event spaces were progressively delivered throughout 2022 and 2023 to provide significant enhancements to the public realm and provide for a range of uses for both racing and non-racing activities. Signage, fencing and landscaping improvements have substantially enhanced the visitor experience.
The transformation of the racecourse was delivered in early 2024.
