In March 2022, Kane Constructions was awarded the $21 million Lump Sum contract to deliver the Monash Medical Centre Multi-deck Car Park.
The car park extension has been designed to increase car parking capacity for both staff and visitors, improve vehicular and pedestrian access including segregation of vehicular and pedestrian flows, improve safety around the site, and improve the patient and visitor experience at Monash Health’s Clayton Campus.
This approach will be achieved through the implementation of a four-level extension to the existing car park, improved entry and exit, and changes to the existing car parking alignment to improve the car park access.
The scope of work includes the delivery of:
- 468 new car parking spaces (both staff and visitors)
- Designated staff parking within the existing multi-deck
- Improved traffic flow through the multi-deck car park
- Dedicated motorcycle parking
- Improved DDA parking in the multi-deck
- Improved vertical transportation and lift systems
- New pay system and car park management system
- Improved wayfinding
- Crack remediation works on the existing structure
Works are located at the Monash Medical Centre building in Clayton which is required to remain operational for staff and patients throughout construction.
The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-2023.
