Kane Constructions was awarded the lump sum contract for the design and construct of a new demountable police station for the Sunshine Coast Water Police.
The QLD Police services were relocating to Mooloolaba spit, to a site which had an unknown future. Therefore they decided on a demountable style building 20x8m. The critical issue, KANE only had 13 weeks to design, build and handover a fully operational police station. The project was worth $1mil and consisted of reception, admin area, toilet/shower facilities, lunch rooms, drug/gun safes and security systems. Also involved the construction of a new boat enclosure and washout area for the police boats.
The site involved the removal of a car park and garden area and installation of a demountable style building 20m from the Mooloolaba beach opposite Mooloolaba spit. The structure and external cladding were built in a factory in Coolum, then transported to site where service rough in/fit off and internal finishes were completed on-site. The building was completed
and operational 13 weeks from date of contract award.
