Kane Constructions was appointed in April 2018 for the Design and construction of a new $23 million police station featuring a Metropolitan Police Charge Facility.
The new facility included van loading dock, charge dock, cells, charge room facilities and interview rooms, modern breath analysis and drug testing facility and equipment, CCTV and audio visual links (AVL), modern work spaces for task forces, detectives and visiting traffic and highway patrol and secure parking for police vehicles.
A key element to the contract was ensuring the operation of the Police Local Area Command was not hindered by the construction works. This was achieved through the provision of temporary facility to enable the existing police station to still be onsite for the duration of the construction period.
The temporary facilities were designed and constructed to be fully modular and easily transportable, allowing the NSW Police to reuse and mobilise the facilities in remote relocations in a short time frame.
The Metropolitan Police Charge Facility reached Practical Completion in September 2019.
