In May 2022, Kane was awarded the $3 million Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) Lab Extension project under a Design and Construct contract.
The scope of work involved refurbishing an existing 350m² space into a new PC2-capable laboratory, which included a PC2/OGTR certified tissue culture room. The primary objective of the refurbishment was to accommodate new tissue culture and molecular/PCR facilities, expanding the institute's current capabilities. Additionally, the project provided open, generic laboratory space designed to accommodate 30-35 personnel at dedicated laboratory benches.
The works included under-slab installations that impacted services on the floor below. The project was successfully completed, with Practical Completion achieved in late October 2022.
