This project involved the addition of 65 new hotel rooms and the refurbishment of 20 existing rooms at the Novotel on Collins in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. Works also entailed the refurbishment of the Australian on Collins shopping centre.
A highly complex project that required the addition of seven levels of new structure on top of the existing hotel building - adjacent to a glazed atrium above a busy shopping centre.
The works necessitated the installation of a tower crane located a top a temporary steel structure on the roof of the existing hotel.
All construction deliveries were via busy Collins Street.
The hotel and shopping centre remained fully operational throughout construction.
The $25 million project was delivered under a Design & Construct contract with works completed in July 2010. The 85 hotel rooms have been finished to exacting and luxury standards.
