Kane Constructions successfully delivered the Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre in April 2024, marking a significant advancement in the care and research of melanoma and positioning Victoria at the forefront of the fight against this formidable cancer.
Officially opened on April 19, 2024, by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Premier Jacinta Allan, this $152.4 million facility heralds a new era in melanoma cancer care.
Designed by Lyons Architecture, the building is distinguished by its façade which bears a resemblance to a skin graft which is commonly used for the treatment of skin cancer. The new six level purpose-built facility includes day oncology services, research laboratories, consulting suites, procedural spaces, multidisciplinary meeting rooms, clinical trials centre, offices for staff, clinical imaging, a wellness centre, wellness garden and two levels of basement car parking.
The development of this centre was driven by Alfred Health patient and philanthropist Paula Fox and is the result of significant support from the Victorian Government and Australian government, the Fox Family Foundation, Minderoo Foundation and Monash University, along with many other donors and supporters.
