Kane Constructions have completed works on the Queensland Ambulance Station in Birtinya, under a Design and Construct contract.
The project involved the construction of a new ambulance service primary report station in Birtinya, consolidated Patient Transport Services (PTS) and staff training facilities. The project also included the construction of associated car parking and a purpose built building comprising of ambulance and PTS vehicle parking, loading and cleaning bays, staff kitchen, study, rest, breakout locker room, training areas, office, communications and ablutions.
The external cladding for the Queensland Ambulance Service facility in Birtinya was specified as a pre-finished CFC product which had a long lead time. Kane suggested an alternative product to be painted CFC, in turn, saving on both lead and installation time, and reduced the cost on maintenance for the client. Kane also suggested the installation of tiles for the outdoor lunch areas in place of the exposed concrete as it had lower long term maintenance costs, provided the client with upfront cost savings and also assisted in the acceleration of the program.
