Kane Constructions was awarded the $155 million Design and Construct contract to deliver the Ramsay Health Warringal Private Hospital Expansion Stage 2 project.

Stage two will see the extension of the existing four level tower to eight levels including a temporary ICU and three levels of IPU wards which will occur under live conditions. This work will then allow the demolition of the existing building housing the Conder and Streeton wards, to be replaced by a brand new four level underground car park and above it, a seven-storey tower. The tower will house the new Day Surgery, Intensive Care Unit, updated sleep study services, IPU wards, diagnostic imaging department and medical consulting suites.

Further to the new tower constructions, a significant refurbishment will be conducted to the remainder of the hospital which will involve the live fit out of the current hospital into a future emergency department that will accommodate the new ambulance bay that will be constructed at the front of the facility. A new link bridge including an integrated 22 bed recovery ward will also be constructed above the live hospital and will link the two isolated theatre wards. Three new operating theatres will also be constructed within this live ward along with a live upgrade of the existing CSSD.

The expansion will allow Warringal Private Hospital to provide world-class quality healthcare to more people in the community with 222 more beds than are currently available. Once the development is completed, the hospital will feature 14 operating theatres, a new, larger Intensive Care Unit, a new Emergency Department and new 29 bed Day Surgery. It will also host a range of new facilities for essential support services including a new Diagnostic Imaging department and an upgraded CSSD.

The project is due to reach Practical Completion in mid 2026.
