Kane Constructions was awarded the Design and Construct contract for the Runcorn Pool in 2007.
The complex includes a 25m indoor and outdoor pool and children’s play pool. The design of the pools incorporate best-practice water conservation measures which resulted in up to 75% less use of town water than traditional public pools. This was achieved by utilising an efficient filter system, water harvesting from the car park via an under-ground
bioretention basin and rainwater tanks to capture run-off from the roof.
The facility also includes associated amenities, external car parking and landscaping.
As the project was design and construct, the Kane Project Team was able to implement a number of design initiatives including an alternative roofing product and elimination of exposed electrical conduit - that delivered a superior end result for the client.
