Kane Constructions has been awarded the $46.3 million Lump Sum contract to deliver the new Surf Coast Aquatic and Health Centre in Torquay.
The project involves the development of state-of-the-art facilities, including an indoor lap and squad swimming pool, learn-to-swim areas, warm water exercise and hydrotherapy pools, a cutting-edge gym, flexible program spaces, and Allied Health suites. Additionally, the centre will feature a café and all necessary supporting amenities.
Designed with a strong emphasis on accessibility, the project carefully balances environmental sustainability and energy efficiency with an enhanced user experience and appealing aesthetics. The new centre will provide 310 new car parks, along with improved access paths and bike parking. It will also connect with Wurdi Baierr Stadium, becoming its primary entry point.
Construction is planned to begin at the end of 2024 and is expected to be completed by 2026.
