Kane Constructions was awarded the contract for The Children's Hospital at Westmead Stage 2 Redevelopment. The refurbishment works at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead are a key part of the broader $619 million Stage 2 Redevelopment, designed to enhance and expand world-class paediatric healthcare services in Western Sydney.

Central to the redevelopment is the creation of a new Paediatric Services Building, housing critical healthcare infrastructure, including operating theatres, neonatal and paediatric intensive care units, cancer services, and cardiac catheterisation laboratories. These advanced facilities will be seamlessly co-located with an upgraded Emergency Department, medical imaging, and a short-stay unit to streamline patient care.

The project is being delivered in various milestones to ensure continuous operational functionality of the hospital and its services. Completion is set for early 2025, marking a significant step forward for healthcare in the region.

In addition to these upgrades, the redevelopment includes the fitout of Australia’s first commercial-scale Viral Vector Manufacturing Facility (VVMF) on the Kid’s Research rooftop and within the Innovation Centre. These facilities will play a pivotal role in advancing paediatric research and clinical trials, solidifying The Children’s Hospital at Westmead as a global leader in innovation and care.

This redevelopment reinforces the Westmead Health Precinct's position as one of the world’s most significant hubs for healthcare, research, and education, ensuring that the growing Western Sydney population receives exceptional medical services for generations to come.
