In 2019, Kane Constructions was awarded a $19 million Design and Construct contract to deliver The Melbourne Clinic Level 3 and 4 Extension and Ground Floor Alteration Works Project.
This complex and unique project involved expanding the existing facility while maintaining full occupancy and operation. The scope of works included:
- Construction of two additional levels (3 and 4), adding 22 new in-patient beds
- Relocation and upgrade of services installations
- Ground floor alterations, including dining areas, staff rooms, and adjacent external areas
- Refurbishment of the ground floor ICU to accommodate additional patients
- Construction of a new lift shaft and modification of the existing lift
- Demolition of the existing pharmacy on the ground floor
The extension enables Healthscope to expand its in-patient private mental health facilities, addressing the growing demand for mental health services in Victoria.
The project reached Practical Completion in mid-2019.
