Purpose-built as a post graduate research facility, the internationally renowned School of Botany is an extension of the existing Botany School located at the Parkville Campus of the University of Melbourne.
The $4.5 million building is defined by its strength of intricate architectural design and in particular the tapering three dimensional effects presented in the detailed facade.
Appreciated by the streams of university traffic along Tin Alley, the facade is highlighted and inspired by an aesthetically pleasing combination of glazed brickwork, alucobond and plain and colour backed glass covering a steel and concrete substructure.
Internally, the Kane Constructions Project Team complimented the outstanding external architecture with second to none internal finishes and services for the new PC2 research laboratories and associated innovative office spaces.
Procured under a fixed price lump sum contract, Kane successfully delivered the University's latest contemporary addition on time and on budget in 2002.
