Kane Constructions were appointed to carry out a complete façade refurbishment and upgrade to the existing eight storey Otto Hirschfeld building at the University of Queensland.
Façade upgrade works included the removal and replacement of windows containing asbestos mastic, extensive removal, repair, and replacement of damaged concrete and render, repointing and cleaning of brickwork, painting and membrane systems, together with the installation of new aluminium sunscreens including associated structural steel framing.
Internal works included the refurbishment of the building entry foyer, upgrade of the existing air conditioning system, and creation of new office spaces.
Works were completed early, without disruption to the existing biomedical laboratories, and with both the building occupants and client satisfied.
